Management
To make the transportation arrangements for our visitors as convenient
as possible, Indiana University Conferences has established a relationship
with Carlson Wagonlit Travel, a major international travel-management
company (tel., 1-800-467-7800; fax, 812-339-7854). CWT will make all arrangements
for a conferees travel to Bloomington, including ground transportation
from the Indianapolis airport, as part of their passenger ticketing service.
In addition to securing the lowest fare to Indianapolis from the point
of origin, they will reserve shuttle service to Bloomington from the Indianapolis
airport.

Traveling
by Airplane
For those intending to fly to the conference, we recommend using the Indianapolis
International Airport. The nearest alternative destination, Louisville,
Kentucky, is a 2 1/2-hour drive from Bloomington.
For those wishing to make independent arrangements for transportation
from the Indianapolis airport, limousine and van shuttle are available.
Bloomington Shuttle Service
(1-800-589-6004) travels directly to the IMU and the Hampton Inn, approximately
eight times a day. Rates: $20.00 for one person one way; $35.00 round
trip. Classic Touch Limousine
(1-800-319-0082) charges a maximum of $43.00 one way, and $68.00 round
trip, to any Bloomington address. Rates decrease as more people share
the ride. Both services require reservations; both are boarded at the
Ground Transportation Center at the Indianapolis Airport, across from
the baggage claim area.

Parking
At IU, as at many other large universities, parking on campus can be difficult, especially on weekdays when classes are in session. Fortunately, parking is less a problem in the summer. We hope that the following list of suggestions will make parking easier for you. If you have questions or concerns about parking on campus, please contact Lisa Kurz, Laura Plummer, or Ray Smith, IU conference chairs. Theyll be wearing badges.
If youre staying in the hotel in the Indiana Memorial Union (IMU):
Hotel guests are provided free parking vouchers for the pay lot adjacent to, or across the street from, the Indiana Memorial Union (IMU). Youll receive your free parking voucher when you complete the hotel registration form, and youll need to show it to the parking attendant each time you exit either pay lot.
If youre staying in Willkie Residence Hall:
When you register at the Willkie front desk and get your room key, you may also purchase, for $4.00 per day, a temporary D1 parking decal that will allow you to park in the D1 lot east of Willkie on Union Street, or the lot southwest of Willkie on Rose Avenue. This decal is lot-specific; that is, it permits you to park only in D1 lots adjacent to Willkie. It will not permit you to park in lots designated as A or C or in the pay lots near the IMU. Note that you will not need a parking decal to park in the Willkie lot from 5 p.m. Friday to 11 p.m. Sunday.
If youre staying in another hotel in Bloomington:
You can purchase, for $6.00, a temporary A parking decal that will allow you to park in any A lot on campus, including the Poplars garage, a large parking structure on Sixth Street between Dunn and Grant Streets (about a 10-minute walk from the IMU). These temporary decals can be purchased at the conference registration table in the IMU. Note that these decals are also lot-specific; they are only for lots designated as A or C, and will not permit you to park in any residence hall D lot, including the lot adjacent to Willkie.
Note that local streets around the university are either no-parking zones, or parking is permitted there for 2 hours only.
Glossary:
- A decal: Permits you to park in A or C lots or in any of the parking garages: Poplars (6th St. between Dunn and Grant Sts.), Atwater (on Atwater St. between Woodlawn and Faculty Aves.), Jordan (on Jordan Ave. south of 7th St.), and the garage behind the Psychology Building (on 10th St. at Fee Lane).
- D1 decal: Permits you to park in the lots adjacent to Willkie only (each residence hall lot has a D + number designation).
- IMU Hotel guest voucher: Permits free parking in the IMU pay lots.
